Empowering Homes: Centre Unveils Rooftop Solarisation Scheme for Free Electricity
In a significant announcement, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed details of the Rooftop Solarisation and Free Electricity scheme during the budget speech. Introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this initiative, part of the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, aims to provide free electricity of up to 300 units every month to around 10 million households. The scheme allows households to sell surplus electricity to DISCOMS, offering estimated annual savings ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹18,000.
