Major Milestone: Jewar International Airport Set for Year-End Launch, Says Civil Aviation Minister

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Civil Aviation Minister, announced on Thursday that the international airport in Jewar, Noida, will be operational by the year’s end. He highlighted India’s rise as the fifth-largest aviation market globally, set to become the third-largest by 2030.

“With six airports in Uttar Pradesh, the Modi government has added four more, with five in the pipeline. Jewar airport will join them by year-end, totaling 16 airports in UP,” he stated.

The Noida airport, located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, is projected to accommodate 6.5 million passengers initially, surging to 70 million annually by 2042-43.

Scindia noted a significant airport growth from 74 in 2014 to 149 presently. Passenger numbers surged from 10 million pre-Covid to 152 million in 2023, with an expected domestic passenger count of 300 million in the near future.
